This individual typically reports to a mid-level manager or a Director, depending on the size of the company. Employers will look for the candidate to have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field. More and more companies are requiring the candidate to have a master’s degree and have at least eight years of software, design, development and installation of enterprise-wide, level-N tier architecture in a .NET or Java 2 Enterprise Edition framework. The candidate must possess excellent planning and communication skills to coordinate the tasks with the team. Some responsibilities for the Applications Architect include:
- Designing the applications architecture from a user interface to IT infrastructure
- Offering technical direction to the applications development team
- Collaborating on and enterprise-wide initiative to ensure that the architecture is uniform and the design standards are aligned with business requirements
